Hidden amid towering evergreen firs on Queenstown’s centrally located Bob’s Peak, there is a place where adventure and ecotourism come together. Ziptrek Ecotours is an international award-winning eco-business and a serious must-do!
Being the adventure capital of New Zealand (or dare we say the world!), Queenstown is home to countless fun and adventurous activities that could keep any adrenaline enthusiast busy for days! But for those interested in more than just a quick shot of adrenaline, Ziptrek Ecotours offers the perfect combination of learning about sustainability of the environment we live in and having fun while enjoying the breathtaking view of Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu.
Ziptrek Ecotours came to Queenstown from Canada in 2010 and offers three different zipline tours, all unique in their own way. Nonetheless, every tour is an eco-adventure where along with thrilling zipping through the treetops, knowledgeable and super friendly guides provide an important insight into the idea of environmental sustainability.
Named after New Zealand’s extinct bird, Moa Tour consists of 4 lines, combining 490 meters of ziplining fun for all ages. The tour is designed to start with the basics, learn some cool tricks on the way (upside down, anyone?) and end with a 240-meter long zipline with glorious views.
An upgrade from Moa and named after New Zealand’s mountain parrot, Kea Tour is a faster and longer tour with 6 ziplines, the last one being the steepest tree to tree zipline in the world! While definitely not for the faint of heart, Kea Tour is a great way to get that adrenaline kick while hanging out in tree houses, breathing in some fresh air and descend a mountain in the best possible way.
Newly introduced is the Twilight Tour, a 4-line Moa Tour under a starry sky available only in winter months. Headlamp and moonlight are your only sources of light on this tour, which makes for a perfect setting to let your imagination run free while ziplining your way through the woods.
Tip: Dress warmly and carry as little as possible. We would highly recommend the Kea Tour, as the Moa might go by too fast! But no matter which tour you choose, one thing is for sure; with Ziptrek Ecotours you are in for an unforgettable adventure!

Have you ever tried ziplining? Where is your favorite zipline?
Big thanks to Ziptrek Ecotours for having us on their Kea Tour. All opinions are our own.
